The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior reported how the Department of Combating Cybercrimes prevented major cyber attacks against telecommunications towers across the country.
The ministry released a statement on X which detailed how the Department of Combating Cybercrimes made an arrest of an international Chinese criminal group that conducted major cyber attacks on Kuwaiti banks and communications towers.
The group penetrated communication networks by sending deceptive bank and telecom company impersonated messages to deceive victims while employing advanced technological devices and analysis tools for bank account data theft and money theft operations.
Special tracking technology revealed the suspicious signals originated in Farwaniya so the specialized team located the driver which led to his Chinese national arrest. The police obtained electronic devices directly from him before they located more devices used to analyze hacked data at his home.
The Ministry of Interior obtained a confession from the individual who admitted to joining others in their activities of hacks into communication systems followed by illegal message transmission. The authorities managed to find all remaining members of the gang through investigations while executing arrests. The fingerprint-based inquiry confirmed their hidden identities because their actual fingerprints did not match the registered fingerprints demonstrating their purpose to commit identity forgery.
The ministry stated that it referred the defendants to relevant authorities who undertook legal proceedings against them.
