How could artificial intelligence rewrite the internet?

Several leading technology corporations support their AI models through Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini and OpenAI ChatGPT with the release of publicly available versions after their initial testing phase.

Users generally wonder about the functioning mechanism of these models. In response to this inquiry GPT-3 explained that artificial intelligence implements advanced auto-completion technology for specialized models which reviews word statistics from enormous text data to determine subsequent sentence or paragraph completion.

According to The Verge's James Vincent smart tools operate as extensive automated completion systems that forecast the upcoming word in a sentence. These systems operate without using any preprogrammed databases for their factual information. The models generate statements that sound factual but their main capability is to create believable yet false information. Plausibility when viewed does not translate to factual accuracy.

AI tools perform content creation at an incredible pace because they rewrite the internet by producing all types of written materials that formerly needed human writers and editors.

Artificial intelligence is being used by many companies and websites to write news summary, product description, even write articles completely. This has contributed to being able to expand by publishing high volumes of targeted content and most websites are now able to publish large quantities of content pertaining to different and various departments and fields.

And can AI be relied upon to write authentic impactful content? It shifts the question about the future of content creation. But the more powerful AI is, the greater the fear that it is not ‘authentic,’ ‘credible,’ or in any way misleading. In fact, deepfake videos created by AI and false articles have caused debates on how well AI is used to the media and how companies such as OpenAI and Google will implement more strictening guidelines and tools to detect it and mitigate the risks, but the problem remains big.

Now since the internet begins with a Google search we need to know the virtual search is based on keywords and algorithm to bring results, unlike AI models that’s more beyond that. That’s why they are able to deliver more accurate and relevant personalized results as they are actually able to understand the context of a sentence and understand the intent behind a user’s query.

How does artificial intelligence affect social media?

Artificial intelligence has a great impact on social media and online communities. Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and others use AI to suggest what to post, who to follow, and even detect hateful language, bullying, or even bad pictures. Naturally, social media has therefore become more engaging, but it has also caused concerns over so-called ‘echo chambers’, a virtual space where people are only exposed to content that backs what they believe.

Indeed, the use of AI in social media is increasing, which brings about questions regarding privacy, bias and potential of manipulation. AIs increasingly good at predicting and controlling human actions are the focus of concern because of how that power is being wielded.

Social media are being forced to be more transparent, more honest, and responsible for not unleashing their AI tools onto the world without having them transparent and honest.

The Future of the Web in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

As AI continues to improve, its reach on the internet is increasing and we can see ourselves in a one with AI not just as a tool or an assistant but as an integral part of the infrastructure of the web, which is shaping from what we see that how we find information and how users interact among each other online.

Although these AI models like ChatGPT and Gemini offer fun and exciting new toys to learn with, they herald a new age of online use where we are beginning to have trouble seeing what is human and what is AI generated—this all seems very exciting. While this development would still have some challenges to be tackled such as the use of AI in an ethical way and even the managing of AI on jobs and the society in general.

This is the internet as we are changing it in these changing times. This is about more than how we use what we think we know as the internet, it is about what it is and can or will be. These changes, embraced, enable AI to tap into its power in continually helping people become more creative, communicate and make sense of the world in new and innovative, responsible, and ethical ways.
