Google is said to be exploring technology to allow an AI to harness a browser for managing research, shopping and other tasks said a report from The Information. The technology is one of Google’s continuing developments in AI, and in theory, would serve the purpose of streamlining many web-based processes, which will enhance the user experience.
Google's Next Frontier AI System to Autonomously Control Computers
Dubbed as, “Project Jarvis,” the plan is likely to be unveiled as soon as December, together with Google’s possible Gemini large language model. This new AI model will be used to support, Project Jarvis, in which the browsing capabilities of a browser are accomplished more intelligently and independently.
Project Jarvis is essentially a step towards a new way of using your electronic devices; opening up your phone without typing a PIN, turning on lights without having to move a muscle – it could become the new normal. For instance, it could study on products, analyze the costs, and make purchases all these without the user availing himself/herself every time.
Project Jarvis is a step further from existing voice assistants and aims to become a part of user’s digital environment. This is a complete break from passive questioning and suggesting to actually direct the utility and have the AI do things for the user.
When Google’s new product, Gemini, is released, the concept behind Project Jarvis could very well turn into a reality. The shift could be interpreted as Google’s efforts to remain at the vanguard of the artificial intelligence advancement which the company needs as it is experiencing growing competition with/other leading IT players that mean to create more intelligent/sophisticated AI solutions.
OpenAI's Next Step AI That Surfs the Web and Takes Action on Its Own
Microsoft-backed OpenAI is planning on a new project that’ll allow its AI models to independently carry out research on the internet. In a July article by Reuters, the idea would be predicated on a computer-using agent (CUA) that is equipped to perform action on suggestions derived from its research on the Net.
The primary objective of designing a CUA is to ensure the models developed by OpenAI achieve at least one to three times greater effectiveness than conventional approaches to filtering information in order to avoid reliance on thoughtlessly constructed search queries. Given the ability to perform web like browse, search, data summarization and arrival at decision, the technology could function on its own.
OpenAI’s approach might redefine how AI interacts with World Wide Web and browsing through information like a human being. The CUA would be equipped to go in search of web sites of its own accord, collect appropriate data and possibly take further action on the basis of the acquired data.
The uses for this technology are innumerable and can reach from auto-analysis of markets to foundation of massive scale scientific operations. Doing so, AI would be given the web-browsing rights and that is what OpenAI can bring new levels of efficiency and sheer accuracy into various industries.
Microsoft supports this project showing the company’s interest toward development of new AI technology based on their previous cooperation with OpenAI. As we saw the increased competition in the creation of AI the use of a computer-using agent would be of utmost advantage to Microsoft and OpenAI in the future of the development of more intelligent and autonomous AI.
Anthropic and Google Team Up to Bring AI Agents Directly to Your Desktop
Anthropic and Google are said to be working together to flesh out the idea of the AI agents by building a tool that can communicate with a user’s computer or web browser. As stated in the report, this new advancement is to take AI technology to the next level to enhance the abilities of digital communication more self-governing.
The kind of AI agents in the vision would be far more sophisticated than modern intelligent personal assistants which can both find and somewhat act on information on the particular computer. This could include such things as, handling personalised documents, changing aspects of the system settings, or even sometimes streamlining processes within several different applications.
Leveraging on establishment of direct interfaces with the computer, the partnership aims at cultivating AI that augments the productivity of the user. It would serve similar to a co-pilot that would accompany the users in their everyday work and make it smarter and faster.
Google, which contributed to the report, could not be reached for additional comments since the company did not respond to a request for more information in time. But the cooperation with Anthropic shows that both organizations are interested in unfolding the future of AI as active and predominant component of global technologies.
If successful this could re-signify how people interact with computers in the future making artificial intelligence a core component for delivering and acting on tasks and experiences. This is a very interesting area of work for both Anthropic and Google as they gradually fine-tune the agent concept, opening the door to a new generation of productivity based on AI.
